Job Description
The Plant Maintenance Technician is responsible for proper maintenance and repair of building and equipment in a timely manner and works closely with management in supporting the day-to-day operations. This position carries responsibilities in the following functional areas: hydraulics, electrical, welding, refrigeration systems, construction, mechanics, HVAC systems, plumbing and other general maintenance.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Direct troubleshooting activities in the event of equipment failure including diagnosing, and problem-solving repairs.
- Monitors, maintains and modifies the Preventative Maintenance (PM) system in order to ensure the most effective and cost-efficient use of resources.
- Making repairs in electrical, welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, refrigeration system, HVAC, plumbing and construction.
- Communicates and enforces all Company- Plant- and Departmental work rules and policies. Ensures consistency with constant communication within the Maintenance Department.
- Participates in dismantling, assembling and installing industrial machinery.
- Maintains and organizes inventory of all departmental supplies and equipment to ensure that they are available to effectively carry out the facility mission.
- Coordinates the timely replacement of parts.
- Working independently and urgently to resolve problems that may occur throughout the day serving as main point of contact for all maintenance related activities.
- Communicating with different departments to ensure the flow of productivity.
- Perform observations for both improved safety and quality as required.
Required Skills/ Abilities
- Ability to follow instructions from supervisors or senior maintenance workers.
- Knowledge of general carpentry and repair.
- Ability to use hand tools and power tools.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong decision making and problem-solving skills.
- Basic understanding of electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Related experience preferred.
- On-the-job training offered.
- 3 years maintenance experience required
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods standing and walking.
- Must be physically able to climb ladders, bend, or crawl into awkward spaces.
- Must be able to lift to 50 pounds at a time; must be able to work in extremely cold environments for prolonged times.
Compensation:
- $500.00 retention bonus at 6 months
- $25.00-$32.00 per hour
Expected hours: 30 – 40 per week
