For this Meat Tip Monday, we will be focusing on how to deep fry shrimp. First, you want to stop by either The Meat Market or Local Source foods and pick up some delicious raw shrimp. To learn how to deep fry shrimp, please follow these tips:
First, gather panko, flour, and egg wash and put them in separate bowls. The order should be flour, egg wash, and then panko. Next, heat up your oil to 350°F.
First, you want to bread your shrimp! Start by putting the shrimp in the flour and covering both sides. Then place the shrimp in the egg wash making sure to cover both sides. Lastly, place the shrimp in the panko covering both sides, and move them to a baking sheet. Repeat this process until all of your shrimp our fully covered. Now it’s time to fry your shrimp! Start by separating your shrimp into batches of 6. Shrimp cook very quickly so it will take only about 1-2 minutes for them to be golden brown. After each batch, it is a good idea to allow the oil to get back up to 350°F. Try to avoid overcrowding your deep fryer because this will result in more oily food due to the drop in the temperature of the oil.
