How to Grill BBQ Pork Spare Ribs

For this Meat Tip Monday, we are focusing on how to grill perfect BBQ pork spare ribs. First, you want to stop by either of our retail locations The Meat Market or Local Source Foods and purchase some pork spare ribs. To cook BBQ pork spare ribs please follow these cooking tips:
Prepare Your Pork Spare Ribs
First, you will want to was the spare ribs under some cold water and then pat them dry with some paper towel. Next, you want to season the spare ribs with salt and some dry rub seasoning. Make sure to cover the spare ribs completely with the dry rub. Once the the spare ribs are fully covered place them in a roasting pan or baking sheet and cover them with plastic wrap. You will want to se the spare ribs in the refrigerator at least 1 hour and up to 24 hours.
Grilling Your Pork Spare Ribs
First you will wan to preheat you charcoal grill. Once your grill is nice and hot carefully put the slab of ribs onto the grill and close the lib. After about 30 minutes open the lid back up and turn the spare ribs over and close the lib again. You will want to grill this side for about 30 -45 minutes. Once the 30 -445 minutes are up check on the ribs and make sure they are a nice brown color and no longer pink. Next, you want to remove the ribs from the frill and place them onto a clean baking sheet. Grab some of your favorite BBQ sauce and layer that on top of the ribs. If you want to tenderize the ribs even more preheat you oven to 330° F and bake from 20 – 25 minutes.
Additional Tips
First, make sure to add a lot of dry rub to the ribs this really helps bring out the flavor and helps the edges of the ribs become nice and crispy. Secondly, because we are already adding salt to the spare ribs make sure not to add salt to your dry rub as well. Lastly, make sure to save adding the BBQ sauce to end.
