Bucky’s Favorite Summer Tailgating Cocktails
09.01.2023 Drinks
These are our favorite summertime game day drinks – from a true Wisconsinite😉
Check them out👇
1. Moscow Mule
Of course it is.. vodka, ginger beer, lime, what more do you need?
To make it you need:
- a copper mug (duh)
- 1/2 oz of fresh lime juice
- A shot (or two) of vodka
- 6oz of ginger beer.
Mix them up and you’re ready to go! If you wanna add a bit more flavor try muddling some mint leaves in the bottom of the mug!
2. Fresh Squeezed Screwdriver
Yes, a timeless classic. Most people probably know it as the overly sweet and sugary vodka-OJ. And it is.. but have you ever tried it with fresh squeezed juice? You can use oranges, tangerines, clementines, blood oranges, or even grapefruit or lemons- if that’s your thing.
To make the juice:
- Blend about 2.5 pounds of your fruit of choice in the blender- yes, the whole thing- seeds, peel and all. (you might want to wash them first)
- Add 1-1.5 cups water if you don’t like it as sweet
- Strain the juice through a mesh strainer- and voila!
To make the drink:
- Simply add your vodka of choice
- If you want to get fancy- muddle some fresh mint or basil before you pour
3. Paloma
For all of my tequila drinkers out the, this ones for you.
- Tequila (obviously)
- 2oz grapefruit juice (fresh squeezed is best to avoid the hangover)
- 2oz sparkling water
- Fresh Lime
- Tbsp agave nectar, or honey, or simple syrup
- sea salt for the rim (optional)
Mix her up and you’re ready to party🎉
4. Classic Gin and Tonic
A staple. The recipe is mysteriously hidden in the name so I’ll lay it our for you:
- Gin
- Tonic
If you’re trying to curb the hangover try club soda or flavored sparkling water instead of the high-sugar tonic water we all love.
Mix in a glass with ice and you’re all set! Not a huge fan of gin? Try:
- Pink gin, usually a little sweeter
- Add a lime wedge
- Add fresh fruit or herbs
- Flavored seltzer
Happy Tailgating!🎉
