Pineapple Bourbon Barbecue Sauce

This Pineapple Bourbon Barbecue Sauce is the perfect balance of sweet and spicy. It works perfectly as a glaze and a sauce on pork tenderloin and chops. You can have a delicious homemade thick delicious sauce that caramelizes on the grill or under the broiler in less than 30 minutes!
Ingredients
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 small onion diced
- 3 habanero peppers chopped (optional)
- 1 cup ketchup
- 1 cups brown sugar
- ¾ cups pineapple juice
- ½ cup crushed pineapple
- ½ cup bourbon
- ¼ cup molasses
- 1 tablespoon Worcestershire Sauce
- 1 teaspoon granulated garlic
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- ½ tsp chipotle chili powder
- ½ teaspoon black pepper
- ½ teaspoon salt or to taste
Instructions

Heat a medium-sized saucepan to medium. Add the olive oil and saute the onions and peppers until the onions become translucent and the peppers soften.

Add the additional ingredients. Stir to combine and bring to a boil.

Reduce the heat and simmer until the mixture thickens and reduces, about 20-25 minutes.

Serve immediately.
Notes
Make ahead: Cool the sauce and spoon it into a glass jar leaving 1/2 inch of head space. Store in the refrigerator for up to 7 days or freeze for up to one month.
